Challenges
In the healthcare segment, technology is being used for the well-being of patients, with the main mission of saving lives. Responsible for taking care of people’s health around Brazil for over 50 years, Datum’s client counted on us for the support of their platform.
With the objective of facilitating the routine of medical professionals, and guaranteeing that patient information is secure, digital transformation is offering a series of improvements for the area. Considering that the healthcare company operates in more than 80% of the Brazilian territory,it is essential to have an information storage system for patient and exams.
The technology, which has been around for more than ten years, was developed with the objective of automating and speeding up medical procedures. However, Datum’s history with this client began years later, when the tool was already implemented, so our mission focused on sustaining it.
Technologies used
To maintain the platform’s sustainability, there is a squad with professionals from different areas (Business Analyst, Product Owner, and Backend Java Developers) who work daily to ensure the tool’s success. We can mention some technologies used for its full operation:
- Java 5,8 and later 11 and 14;
- Spring Boot;
- AngularJS;
- GIT code management system;
- Build applications with Maven and/or Gradle;
- Knowledge in architecture oriented micro-services construction;
- Functioning of applications in Container (Docker);
- Javascript/Typescript;
- JPA and Hibernate ;
- Tomcat 8;
At the beginning of the project, the organization had chosen to use waterfall methodology, evolving to agile methodology, which is currently used. Different challenges are experienced every day, such as:
- monitoring and bug fixing in record time so that the platform does not stop working;
- periodic updates to ensure the quality and agility of the solution;
- continuous improvements of the tool.
Results obtained
Many benefits have been perceived since its construction until the current support phase, such as greater agility in the hospital/clinic care of physicians, as well as the gain in usability for professionals to enter reports, prescriptions and research in real time.
Datum is proud to participate in initiatives that can not only optimize processes, but also deepen operational intelligence to enable a transformation in the experience of patients and healthcare professionals.
