Career mentoring for technology squads is one of the tools used to promote the alignment between the professionals’ aspirations and the projects they are working on
Staff turnover is one of the biggest technology’s top headaches. As we have said here, the secret to not losing qualified professionals is engagement. Also, you probably already know that engaging is not only the leaders’ mission, but it is something that requires consistent effort and action.
That is where the mentoring comes into play. We have briefly explained what it is about and what are its main benefits. Nevertheless, Datum went further with the goal of integrating solutions, people, and results in a more assertive manner.
Career mentoring for tech teams
First and foremost, our personalized mentoring program contributes to the alignment between the professionals’ career aspirations and the projects they are working on. It includes four areas of focus: business, cultural, technical, and organizational. Beyond aspects of humanization and innovation, our teams also works to accelerate results, including priority management, strategic vision and performance review.
In a cyclical way, the mentors work with our own methodology, divided in 12 steps. Throughout the mentoring journey, various tools are applied, based on the wished results and the necessary behavior to achieve them.
Although it’s individualized and tailored to each allocated professional, the mentoring is also beneficial for tech leaders. This is because valuable insights on team engagement are gathered and presented in reports to our clients, providing a broader understanding of their teams’ perspectives.
Full tech experience
Having a mentoring program, in itself, is an advance. However, at Datum, it integrates a bigger mechanism of career management and development of technology projects. Our group of mentor acts under the umbrella of the Tech Experience, department led by a IT Head, and that also has an Agile Coach, a People Manager, and an Accelerator Team, with cross tech professionals.
This department is responsible for, among other things, following up on the projects’ health status, assisting on team performance and in the improvement of processes, collecting and presenting data to help decision-making and mapping opportunities.
